Installation

The Omnivision Upgrade is installed in the existing machine on your line. This eliminates the need to make any costly changes to the conveyor.

It is designed to be completely installed and operational within 2 days.

  • All of the electronics are removed including the harness

  • Fitted with new sensor blocks, which are quick-disconnect plug compatible

  • New AC breaker panel is integrated into transformers in the base cabinet

  • Machine chassis is fitted with a new modular harness

  • Power supply chassis (with integrated UPS) is installed into the top cabinet and connected to the AC breaker panel

  • Inspection chassis (containing the newest multi-media processing unit) is installed in the upper cabinet

  • If an Outer Sidewall (OSW) is present, the older style cameras and mirrors are removed and a new high speed digital camera is mounted. New mirror and special rotator guides are installed, in order to be able to inspect over 360˚ (on most bottle types)

Features

Custom Bottle Rotator:

Provides 360˚ bottle viewing for Outer Sidewall (OSW) Inspection Systems.

Outer Sidewall (OSW) Inspection System Upgrade:

Converts existing OSW inspection units to the state-of-the-art Omnivision II inspection hardware and electronics.

OSW Inspection

Base / Inner Side Wall (ISW) / Finish Inspection:

Uses existing reflex optics and CCD camera.

Provides ultra-high speed multi-media processing (MMP) computer technology used for image processing.

Base Inspection

ISW Inspection

Finish Inspection

Infrared Residual Liquid Detection (IR-RLD) System:

Uses existing long wavelength lead sulfide photo detector.

Provides the newest technology inspection electronics module which automatically compensates for bottle color and glass thickness.

Auxiliary Reject Inputs:

Accommodates a reject signal interface for up to 2 upstream devices and allows the Omnivision Upgrade to perform reject duties for these machines.

Isolated PLC Outputs:

Allows a PLC to interface with the Omnivision Upgrade Starwheel control system. All inputs and outputs are optically isolated.

Advanced Password Protection:

Provides a sophisticated password protection scheme which links any changes made to the system with the user who made the change.

Each user ID/password can also be mapped to a specific set of available screens.

Parameter Change Logging:

Provides complete logging of all changes made to a machine, associating all changes to a specific user.

Reject Verification:

Compatible with the machine's existing sensor. When used with a PLC interface, it ensures that all defective bottles are rejected and will not reach customers. A signal to the PLC automatically stops the production line if the Reject Verifier is activated.

Power Protection and Voltage Monitoring:

Power transient protection and under-voltage monitoring modules provides protection to sensitive electronics in the event of power spikes and brown-outs.

Benefits

  • Increase the lifetime of your Empty Bottle Inspector (EBI) by over ten years

  • Lower the number of electronic spare parts needed

  • Network ready

  • Increased number of inspection zones

  • Higher amount of inspection control

  • Integrated UPS reduces failure due to brownouts or power outages

  • Multi-level security

  • Remote access and remote data acquisition available

Inspection Improvements

  • Upgrade features all new Windows-based software with revamped inspection algorithms

  • The new inspection algorithms are standardized on most of the subsystems to shorten the learning curve and ease the tuning of the machine

  • Inspection flexibility is increased and the size of the inspection zone can be made as large or small and allow for the fine tuning of the inspection location

  • The increased sensitivity in the parameters allow the upgraded system to detect small sized objects

  • New inspection parameters increase the ability to distinguish between naturally occurring bottle defects and actual objects that should be detected

  • The Finish inspection algorithm can now be moved to accommodate special applications in a given float.
